Dental assistance in Texas?

I have a friend in Texas who is in desperate need of dentures and cannot afford them. She does not qualify for Medicaid but her insurance only pays for part of the costs of all of the extractions and dental work. She does not qualify for Care Credit and the dentists that she has tried are not willling to set up payment plans. Does anyone know of any programs that can help pay for the costs? She really needs help before her poor dental health starts affecting her general health. Her teeth are so baad that they are turning black and decaying away. She is also in pain. thanks for your help.

Dental assistance in Texas?
She can try contacting a dental school in her area. They may want to use her for an hands on assignment. Get the yellow pages or use a search engine
Reply:Have her contact UT Dental Branch. If they can't help her maybe they can point her in the right direction.
Reply:Care Link is not health insurance, but it may help. the only dental service they cover is extractions. so before her teeth get any worse she may want to have them pulled right away.

here's a link to the website which will tell her what she must bring with her to get assistance from care link.

Reply:I'm in Texas and I don't know that I would recommend her to call the dental schools. I know that Baylor dental school still charges for the work they do, though at a reduced rate. They also do not deal with dental insurance. You can look up the Baylor dental school website and see how they choose patients and about the fees, but I have looked it up for patients before, and it clearly says that they don't do payments and that you do still have to pay for the work they do.

Her best bet would be to contact the health department in her county. I know the county I work in has a low income dental clinic. She won't get top notch dentures, but as they say, beggars cant be choosers. She probably will get the cheapest dentures they make, if they do it at no charge.

No offence to your friend, but I can't say I blame the dentists for not being willing to set up a payment plan. For one thing, if Care Credit wouldn't be willing to finance her, there must be something in her credit report that throws up a red flag. And second, many many many dentists have been screwed over by patients who promised to make payments and then fell through on their agreement. Your friend may be a very trust worthy person, but these dentists don't know her from Jane Doe who they saw right before her.

I know that I have heard of a group called Fish ministries, but I don't know how much they are willing to give.
