If your employer only offers health care benefits and no dental or eyecare because of their expense...?

what type of value should be placed on these types of benefits for a year. I want to use this as ammunition for a raise in a few months and wondered what you thought these beneftits are worth. I am single with no childeren and live in iowa. any references or a range of values on these benefits would be appreciated. thanks.

Each company can decide what types of insurance they offer, not all places offer the same thing. My family only has health insurance if we want to other stuff,it has to come out of our pockets. You won't be able to use any of this as ammunition to help get a better raise.
Reply:I can't speak for Iowa, but in Upstate New York, single coverage for a standard dental plan costs $15-20 a month for single coverage and $35-$45 a month for family coverage. Vision coverage costs much less. About $3-5 a month for single and $6-10 a month for family coverage. But of course it all depends on the plan design. In fact, the perceived value of these benefits is much higher than what they actually cost. Same for life insurance. Cheap, but people love it.
