Extensive Dental Work?

I hadn't gone to the dentist in 3 years til food kept getting stuck in a molar. It motivated me into going to the dentist, where I discovered I was essentially screwed. I have to have four impacted wisdom teeth extracted, two cracked molar extracted, about ten cavities that need to be filled...altogether I'm looking at around $3000 of work, even with insurance! Ouch. Well, lesson learned and I will be getting in to start work ASAP-I'm on one more week of bedrest because I almost hemmoraged to death a week ago after delivering my son. I was unable to get dental work done prior to that bc my doc wouldn't sign off on it during my pregnancy bc I was high risk, so my dentist wouldn't do anything at that time. I have to have radiation treatment that was also postponed due to my pregnancy for cancer...so, what are the odds that they'll do all I need done in just a couple visits? Time is of the essence here as both health and dental ins. run out by Christmastime and I obviously need radiation.

Extensive Dental Work?
If you really need it done ASAP, it can be done in two visits as quick as one week apart. It also depends if you are breast feeding your newborn or not. If you are, they can only do a little at a time because they can only give you the type of anesthesia that lasts a short while. ( Anything in your bloodstream is also in your breast milk). If you are not brestfeeding, or can stop for a short term(4-5 days after every visit), they can do the work in two visits. One for the treatment you need on top, and one for the treatment you need on the bottom. ONE SUGGESTION: have some help around the house with the baby because after the appointments, you may need pain medication which can make you drowsy.
Reply:I am only in pre-dentistry but I can tell you that you can have it all done by Christmas if your dentist is good. He will remove your wisdom teeth all at once. He will then pull your molars and fill a couple of cavities a couple of weeks later. The other cavities will be pulled a few weeks after that. If your looking at that much anyways you should check on veneers. With insurance they will cost just a little more but they will pull all of them at once and replace them with the veneers and you won't have to see the dentist every couple of weeks for more work and face a surgery so close to having your baby. Good luck.
Reply:It depends on the dental office and how busy they are right now. Most dental offices would rather get as much done at once.
Reply:OUCH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
