Dental Questions...?

Hey all, I've a couple of questions regarding dental health/hygiene that have been on my mind lately:

How do people end up with those big, nasty, brown/yellow stain-lines through their [usually] upper teeth?

Fluoride is beneficial to teeth, but is that when consumed internally (ie: Tap Water) or when placed on the teeth? (like the stuff the dentist rubs on your teeth when you get your routine cleaning). Or is it both?

Thank you.

Dental Questions...?
Fluoride in the water or fluoride drops are only beneficial to developing teeth. Teeth that are already erupted need topical flouride treatments.
Reply:If you're seeing this in older people, these are probably enamel craze lines that have been stained by smoking, coffee/tea drinking etc. Most of these hairline cracks never go anywhere. It's not a subject I remember actually talking about way back in dental school, but as they can be a cosmetic problem they probably should be!
