Health insurance?

if I wanted to buy my own health insurance (dental. medical, vision) not though my job. Where would i look online?

Health insurance?
The best place to start is by doing what you’re doing now – asking for personal recommendations. I’d also check out Consumer Reports (link below), America’s Health Plans (link below), US News %26amp; World Reports Best Health Plans, and whatever other informational resources you can find. I’d also talk with locally licensed health insurance agents. I’ve also included a couple of articles about choosing a health plan that might be useful. They are government-authored, but they’re actually pretty good (all links below).

After you’ve done some research, you should visit MostChoice.com. It’s a Web site that helps you shop for health insurance. They have free instant price quotes and policy information on health plans near you, but their specialty is getting you in touch with state-licensed agents. There’s no cost or obligation to buy insurance. You just fill out a short form and wait for the agents to contact you (within 48 hours). Have your questions ready and let them work until one of them delivers the plan that’s right for you. You might want to have a set amount you want to spend each month on insurance and tell the agents to work within those parameters.

Hope this helps,

Reply:I would suggest talking to a local Health insurance broker. In CA, plans can be very confusing and if you are not experienced sometimes a little thing could make a big difference.

If you are in CA, fell free to email me at rayward@yourlegacybenefits.com Report It

Reply:Usually cost more than through your job! Go to a local insurance agent they can tell you what the best choice for your area is!

In Tennessee it is TRH (Tennessee Rural Health) through Farm Bureau and it is BC/BS coverage for a fair price.

And for dental:

Reply:I used to have blue cross/blue shield but I recently learned something very interesting, all of those major health insurance companies have what's called a barter system (not exactly the term) but what it basically means is that they pay out to hospitals and doctors a certain amount for all procedures, for example, a throat culture is 190.00 at the doctor's office but all the insurance companies pay them is 30% of the doctor's fee. So what the doctor's do is charge $900.00 for a throat culture to make up the cost and then they try and get reimbursed the amount that they regularly charge. What does this mean? It means that as the consumer, you constantly suffer by not getting good doctors who take these plans and if they do, they spend most of the time bartering with these insurance companies like blue cross, cigna, aetna and all of them so in a time of crisis, if you need something serious, the doctor's gonna turn you away because of the red tape. There's one that I learned about MEGA that does it totally different, they pay out 80% from the beginning to Doctors. That's why in most offices you see the co-pay, this is cause the 80% is what the doctors should be getting back from the insurance company. You are insured everywhere in the world, and you basically customize the whole thing. Mine came out a bit less than blue cross and I chose the PPO which I would never choose otherwise.

I had just moved to another state and was literally in SHOCK when I found out how much more expensive health insurance was here (MA), especially Blue Cross. It was over 1,000 a month for a ppo, they are out of their *)@#*(U$ minds if they thing that people can afford this who are feeding their families.

Reply:There are many sites online, but I would recommend going to an Independant agent. (S)he would be able to tailor a carrier and plan to your needs (both medical and financial) and would also be there to explain the differences of each. Sometimes it is difficult and frustrating to compare and contrast different plans online.
Reply:Do not try to do this over the internet. It'll take you several days to intelligently compare all the plans available and you won't know if you've been scammed until you need to use the insurance. Also, if you have any pre-existing conditions that might add a rider to the policy or cause you to be declined or if you are out of the height and weight guidelines you won't know until you've applied and gone through the underwriting process.

Visit a local, independent agent who can shop the market for you and find the best plan for your situation and budget. The plans and premiums are exactly the same when using the agent and the agent can explain the coverage of the policy.
Reply:It would be smart to connect with a local agent and have them help you through this. You can do that by filling out a quote form at http://www.myinsurancequotes.net. A local agent will contact you and ge the process started.

Reply:A good thing to do is to explore all your options, by checking with local agents, online, and personal recommendations. There are so many insurance companies who specialize in so-called "affordable" health insurance that it's best to scout around for the best quote and policies.

Your health insurance should be chosen with an eye on its flexibility and whether it is catering to your particular needs. It's important to mention that no scheme is the best for anyone, some health insurance policies can be better than others. This site: http://affordable-plans.awardspace.com

Health Insurance Question...?

Alright, so I am covered under my dads company insurance for health and dental. He has insurance by Aetna, and I was planning on moving out soon. So, I was wondering, if I go to school full time at the local community college, as I have been for the last year, will the insurance policy still cover me even though I don't live with the parents anymore, but I would still be in school full time.

Health Insurance Question...?
Your dad will have to ask his employer, companies can make their own policies in reference to dependent coverage even though Aetna has their own set of guidelines. If they won't keep you on an individual policy can be purchased and if you get a high deductible HSA it would not cost very much per month.
Reply:Might I suggest that you read the policy and/or contact the insurance company for a knowledgeable answer to your question.
Reply:full time students until the age of 25 are still covered by a parents insurance. Doesnt matter if you don't live with them
Reply:As long as you are a full time student, your parents can keep you on their insurance. I'm not sure if there is an age limit liek there is on tax returns (they can claim you as a dependent as long as you're a full time student until the age of 24 even if you're not living with them), but under the circumstances, you should be fine.
Reply:some companies cover the children of the worker past 21 if he/she is going to school, ur dad should look into his benefits. another way by it is if u still list your dads house as ur primary residence, but if u dont notify the insurance company and if they do an audit ur dad might get in trouble...
Reply:What really matters is what the policy says as they are all different. You can always call Aetna and they will tell you what you need to know.
Reply:As long as you're in classes full-time, then yes. (They cover kids who go away to school and live in the dorms.)

Health insurance?

What is a good website to get health and dental insurance, and what are good plans for me and my wife

Health insurance?
There are several websites to get you a ballpark figure and information about many different policies. However, do not try to do this over the internet. It'll take you many days of solid research to intelligently compare the hundreds of plans available. Also, if you have any pre-existing conditions that might add a rider to the policy, cause you to be declined, or if you are out of the height and weight guidelines you won't know until you've applied and gone through the underwriting process. Also, applying over the internet is a good way to get scammed.

Call or visit a local independent agent that works with all the major companies in your area. Not all companies are available in all states and plans with the same company can vary across state lines. The agent can work with you to find the best policy for your situation and budget. The plans and premiums are no different if you use an agent.
Reply:Ehealthinsurance.com probably has the best interface for this. Do some basic research there and then call an independent agent who specializes in health, especially for individuals. I don't recommend actually buying from ehealth because my experience is that they tend to "oversell" people to make a somewhat higher commission. It's not their fault, it's just the way that their staff is supervised and compensated.

A local agent who needs referrals from you is probably a better bet.

WHY Prisoners get Free Health CARE in CALIFORNIA?

Common people in California can barely afford Healthcare. Why shouldnt Prisioners have to pay for it? ie I need a joint replacement. My cost for freedom is to pay an arm and leg for health care and a top premium copay to get it replaced. And be stuck with Bills out the ying yang and still pay taxes for Prisoners go to the ER and receive free health care/Dental care/ eye care. Something needs to be done. People are struggleing out here. The cost of Childcare is crazy. Try going to school to better yourself and pay childcare along with rent and car insurance health insurance and other general bills. For the less fourtunate its a battle. I know theres some out there with some rude thoughts but keep them to your self. S*@! happens. The yearly cost to house a prisoner is 33k a year along with all the Free healthcare they want. I know some are thinking thats the price of freedom I dont want to hear it. We ppl should not be strugglin this hard. The welfare system is a loophole.anothr sub

WHY Prisoners get Free Health CARE in CALIFORNIA?
On the bright side, they receive treatment from doctors that can't maintain a successful practice on the outside.....or afford malpractice.
Reply:Frustrates me too, I am one of the payers, not the receivers.
Reply:cause the govenaters an idiot.
Reply:Better ask this question to the government
Reply:So commit a crime and get thrown in jail...now do you understand?
Reply:Some federal judge at some point ruled that prisoners have a constitutional right to adequate health care since they are in state custody.
Reply:i guess because they have no income. They cant pay!
Reply:It is considered cruel and unusual punishment to withhold health care. Take it up with the Supreme Court if you don't like it.

By the way, prisoners pay for their time too!
Reply:It is YOUR and MY fault, period.

We elect LIBERALS into public office. LIBERALS, either Democrats or Republicans, have to GROUP people together so they can have VICTIMS which then become someone to help or hurt.

California and Massachusetts are two of the most LIBERAL states in the nation. Begin voting LIBERALS out of office. Until then you're out in the cold. Otherwise, go kill someone and you'll be one of those VICTIMS in prison and you'll get your operation. LOL Just kidding, don't do that. Just kidding O.K.?
Reply:They are in jail. Did you think they pay for their health care?

Kind of makes you wonder, prisoners and congressmen get socialized medicine while we working people get nothing. Universal health care just keeps looking better and better.

Or would you just support paying for medical care for politicians and convicts? You have a choice to make.
Reply:CA prisoners get free healthcare because the taxpayers of the Golden State are footing the bill for that and all other sorts of nonsense.

This a nationwide problem. My dad was a Paramedic for the prison system in NYC, you'd be surprised how many poor people would get arrested, just so they can get the state to cover their medical needs.

Personally, I think, the state should send a bill to their familes and make them pay for it, or withold their state tax refund. As for welfare, don't get me started, I hate welfare. I wish I could get money for nothing.

doah! that's right their criminals

my bad
Reply:It's not just CA prisoners, it's everywhere. Despite what they've done, many of them live better lives in prison than we do at home. Free tv, 3 square meals a day. Hot showers. Clean sheets, warm blankets. Dental care, vision care, medical care. How many families go without that? Yeah, they should have to work for it in jail to earn those benefits just like everybody else. And then there are the illegals who are getting the same. Ron Paul's website gets more supporters every day for that very reason. And yet you're made to feel like white trash if you apply for heap 'cause you can't afford to heat your home, or have to get on food stamps so your kids don't go hungry. But you're made to feel like trash anyway, even though you've paid into the system for years.. But in all fairness, I gotta say, there are innocent people in jail too.
Reply:Jail in the United States is hell. You're under constant threat of violence or rape, you are bored to death most of the time, you get ordered around by morons in uniform, and should you get sick your health care is contracted out to private corporations that will deny you vital care because they know that no one gives a whit if you die. In many prisons you can't have visitors. In others, visitation is allowed but the prison officials will screw with your visitors even if they make appointments, to the point where your own family gives up on trying. I don't know where you're getting your ideas from, but they're wrong.
